Nottoway County was formed in 1789 when it was split off from Amelia County.
Parish Intro
Nottoway was comprised of Nottoway Parish. Nottoway Parish was split off in 1748 from Raleigh Parish, both of Amelia County.
Records
Nottoway County has no marriage records prior to 1850.
Unlike many other Virginia counties, Nottoway County has no Chancery Case Files. However, there are a number of dockets and minutes of Chancery actions.
