See also 24-028. Petition to divide estate. Consent decree July 1824. Lot 2 150 acres to James A. Vaughan; Lot 7 182 acres to Robert T. Vaughan; Lot 3 200 acres to Baskerville Vaughan; Lot 4 166 acres to Albert G. Vaughan; Lot 1 222 acres to Augustus Vaughan; Lot 5 166 acres to Asa Vaughan; Lot 6 170 acres to Benjamin R. Vaughan allocated 23 May 1822. Each received slaves and there were adjustments in cash to balance out the shares. [See Chancery File 24-028. Page 3 is a fabulous plat of the lands of Robert Vaughan. The file also includes a written legal description of the land by the Surveyor.

Petition of John Vaughan, Rebeckah Vaughan, Mary B. Thompson and Alexander W. Vaughan. James Vaughan, grandfather of Petitioners d. owning 100 acres leaving widow Lucy Vaughan, since deceased, sons: Moody Vaughan, David Vaughan, Ishmael Vaughan, George Vaughan, James Vaughan, Bins Vaughan, Macajah Vaughan and daughters: Sally Vaughan, Rebecka Vaughan, Mary Vaughan & Pricilla Vaughan. George Vaughan has also d. leaving son John Vaughan and four daus.: Martha Vaughan who m. Josiah Nolley, Lucy Vaughan m. Isaac Brett, Catharine Vaughan m. Thomas Drake, Silvia m. Robert Patterson. James Vaughan is also dec’d leaving Hannah Vaughan, Peterson Vaughan and Moody Vaughan. Macajah Vaughan, Moody Vaughan and Ishmael Vaughan are also dec’d. Ishmael Vaughan before his death sold his interest to Ann Ossling. Moody Vaughan left a widow Polly Vaughan and one child Fanny Vaughan. Before he d. he gave a trust deed to D. Middagh. Sally Vaughan is deceased leaving Petitioners Alexander W. Vaughan and Mary B. Thompson. Bins Vaughan is deceased leaving petitioners John Vaughan and Rebecka E. Vaughan and Nancy Vaughan. Priscilla Vaughan is dec’d leaving children: [blank]. Court ordered land be surveyed and sold . 1847 land surveyed at 92 acres and sold to Alexander H. Middagh at $1.30 per acre. Case dismissed Nov 1872. [WOW!] [Note: James Vaughan and his wife Lucy lived on Great Branch and Yarbrough’s Cr. in Brunswick County from 1779-1786. I can not find where he owned 100 acres in Mecklenburg Co.]
