HENRY COUNTY, VIRGINIA PETER DAVID Homeplace On 26 June, 1780, Peter David was granted 259 acres on both sides of Bull Run of the Blackwater River in Henry County, Virginia. The land had been surveyed on 27 September, 1759, then in Pittsylvania [Halifax?] County. Bull Run is in the northeast corner of present day Franklin County very close to the intersection of Bedford County and Pittsylvania County. This location makes a record search a little complicated to keep track of the county lines. The following chart shows the changing counties: |
|
North of Blackwater Bedford County 1754-1786 Franklin County 1786- |
East of Western Pittsylvania County Line Halifax County 1752-1767 Pittsylvania County 1767-1777 |
South of Blackwater Halifax County 1752-1767 Pittsylvania County 1767-1777 Henry County 1777-1786 Franklin County 1786- |
