Note: Two James Bruce appear in early records of Greenville County, South Carolina. Both appear in the 1790 and 1800 census for Greenville County, South Carolina and in the 1810 census for Pendleton District, South Carolina. Both were born between 1755 and 1765. The records of deeds and plats below show land on the western edge of current Greenville Co., SC and on the eastern edge of adjacent current Pickens Co., SC

James Bruce appears on survey by William Benson for Samuel Earle of 375 acres on Wolf Cr., Ninety Six District. South Carolina State Plat Book 5.273. Note: Wolf Cr. in current day Pickens Co., SC is just a few miles west of Armstrong's Cr. in current day Greenville Co., SC.
