Note: Joseph Duckworth and his sons Jacob and Joseph Jr lived on the Horseshoe bend of the deep river in Cumberland Co NC which is now Moore Co NC, the deep river is the boundary between Moore Co and Chatham Co., NC. Jacob Duckworth served in the Chatham Co Militia as a Captain; he had his own district in Cumberland Co NC; and he was a tax assessor before moving across the river to Chatham Co. Note: Chatham Co was originally part of Orange County where the regulator movement took place. William Few lived just outside of Hillsborough in Orange Co., NC. His farm was destroyed by the British; and his brother James was hung by the British. Hillsborough is just 25 miles from the county seat of Chatham Co. The Phillip Alston shown on the Jan 12th 1775 deed was a Colonel in the Rev. War. He owned the House in the Horseshoe; and he was the commanding officer of Captain Jacob Duckworth. ...Wayne Taylor 23 Sep 1768.
