Introduction: Ignatius Bruce (b. 1780) and Walter H. Bruce (b. 1798), son of Thomas H. Bruce (b. 1772) share a yDNA mutation that is unique. Both of their first names are not at all common. Both have ties to Culpeper Co., Va. It appears that both names were introduced into the Bruce family by Elizabeth Bruce who m. John Winters 6 Dec 1736 in Charles County, Maryland. It is only logical that they are in some way related to Elizabeth Bruce. The problem is that the descendant tree of John Bruce, the father of Elizabeth Bruce is well proven and nearly complete. Neither Ignatius nor Thomas H. Bruce, the father of Walter fit in neatly anywhere. |
