John Vaughan and James Vaughan, roughly the same age, both started paying taxes in Wayne, KY in 1811/1813. They married there in 1811 and 1812. They continued to pay taxes through at least 1851 (when I stopped abstracting). During the same time it looks like almost all of the tax digests and marriages belong to them or their children. Reuben Vaughan pays taxes 1809-1811; and Stephen Vaughan pays taxes 1810-1811. Thereafter, they both disappear. A random Stephen Vaughan appears in 1820 and 1823, when neither John or James is old enough to be their parent. Later, it appears John and James each name a son Stephen, so that name is significant.
