WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA EDMONDSON FAMILY Tax Digest Detail 1785-1794 |
||||||||
This was abstracted from Frank Parker Hudson’s magnum opus Wilkes County, Georgia Tax Records, 1785-1805, Volumes One and Two, 1996. In the early years tax districts where named for the then current militia captain, which changed from time to time. Mr Hudson arbitrarily assigned letters to each physical district and plat its general location. Single letters are generally located in present day Wilkes, Lincoln, Oglethorpe and parts of Madison County. Double letters are generally located in present day Taliaferro, Warren and parts of Hancock, Glascock and Greene County. Triple letters are generally located in present day Elbert and parts of Madison & Hart County. |
