Note: Apparently, the deed was first recorded in Wilkes County, Georgia where Moses Mathews lived at the time of signing the deed, then Moses son Rev. James Mathews hand delivered the deed to Fairfield County, South Carolina, where the property was, to be recorded. Also: The same deed 2 Jun 1794 is recorded in Fairfield County, South Carolina, Deed Book I, Page 434. This version references Plat Book 22, Page 162 Recorded in the “Secretary’s Office”. Witnessed: Sanders Walker, James Mathews. 14 May 1795, the Reverend James Mathews made oath that he witnessed Moses Mathews and Sarah Mathews sign the deed. Recorded 29 Jul 1795.
