1813 - Capt. A. B. Strickland’s District Captain Strickland’s District is roughly the current 262nd District in northwestern Madison County. Major watercourses are South Broad River (BR), Black’s Creek (BC), Lamar’s Creek (LC) & Hubbard’s Creek (HC). Bluestone Creek (BSC) was nearby to the east. Most of this district was in Franklin County prior to 1813, with a small portion from Jackson County. Capt. Strickland was the captain of the district in the 1811 tax digest of Franklin County. The 1813 tax digests includes all of the residents from Captain Strickland’s 1811 District in Franklin County that were cut into Madison County, along with all of the residents from Captain Brooks’ 1811 District in Franklin County that were cut into Madison County |
