Isaac James Newton was born ca 1839 in Madison Co., FL. He was the son of Jeptha Newton and Rachel Newton. (Rachel’s maiden name was Newton. She was the daughter of Isaac Newton and Elizabeth Bland of New Hanover Co., NC.) In 1863 in Brooks Co., GA, he was married to Sarah Ann Duckworth, the daughter of Jacob Randolph Duckworth and Susan Phillips. Isaac James died in 1866 in Brooks Co., GA leaving a young widow and two infant sons. After he died Sarah Ann Duckworth married James Harrison Tillman and had several more children. The children of Isaac and Sarah were:
•Isaac Newton, b. 28 June, 1864, Brooks Co., GA, d. 30 September, 1891, Colquitt County, GA, married 11 February, 1886 to Emma Lula Rogers, daughter of Aaron Rogers and Emma Cooper. •James D. Newton, b. ca 1866, Brooks Co., GA, d. after 1900, married 18 March, 1900 in Colquitt Co, GA to Georgia Tillman |
